I'm a noob with printers so bare with me. I was recently given a HP LaserJet P4014n to work on. I was told that it just came out of the box. I plugged it in and it turns on perfectly fine. The problem comes when you try to print something. It will say "processing" forever. That's all it will do. Any suggestions on what could be wrong?

is it happening when you print from the control panel?

If not, does this machine possess a embedded network card?

It is likely a communication/network related issue.

Check the following steps:

1.) Upgrade firmware
2.) Check network settings
3.) Download latest driver
4.) replace network card (if its jetdirect)
5.) replace formatter

I probably should have specified where I was printing from. It occurs when I print from the control panel.

What happens when you print from a PC. Or is this going to be a standalone printer!

Sounds like you have a warranty issue. Contact your local HP shop or call HP. Should be a phone number in the books that came with the printer.

This sounds like it's probably a formatter / firmware failure ... but definitely if it's still under warranty, get HP to fix it...
