My new toner cartridge puts down so much toner that you can really feel it on the printed sheet. This also causes (I think) a ghosting from the fuser roller as the paper makes its way through the fuser assembly. How can I reduce the amount of toner being laid down? I changed the "Toner Density" to 1, but it had little or no effect. The previous toner cartridge does not have this problem (though it has plenty of toner still in it)

Put the other cartridge back in the printer and print.
If you still have the same problem, tell us and we can go from there.
If on the other hand the output looks and 'feels' ok, you have a defective cartridge.

Why did you change the toner? Check inside for toner spilled on the contacts for the toner. Clean the transfer roller.

Just curious, what is your method for cleaning the transfer roller?

I put the old toner cartridge back in and it works fine. So it looks like it's the new cartridge. Now what do I do?

The vendor should give you a replacement.
