HP 6P Error Light On - Even With No Paper Jam

Upon booting the HP Laserjet 6P
it cycles through the lights 2 times and
upon the third try it gets stuck with the
Error light on.

It doesn't make any noise to advance paper
and the rollers don't move.

I had tinkered with the Toner Cartridge
and I got a smudged page. After that I
bought a new cartridge and I cannot
go past the error message.

I appreciate any suggestions.

Try yet another toner cartridge, it could be your problem. Also, make sure that a bad toner cartridge didn't get toner all over the inside of the printer, and if it did, clean it out.
