View Full Version : Is DSL considered "network" for installation?

Hello friends,

I am installing a new HP2420d. At one point in the installation I am asked whether my printer is on a network.

I am on a single user desktop, no LAN. But I also use DSL (as I understand it, also a network). Should I install as on a network YES or NO?

(This query would be moot, except that I am having a problem with printer spooling that might be related to this issue.)

Thanks
Billvv

Assuming that you are connecting directly to your pc with a usb cable, then this is not a network installation.

Thanks very much for your reply, Strider.

Your message also said another magic word. You mentioned connecting with a USB cable. I am using my old parallel cable. I assumed if there was a parallel port on the printer it was OK to do so. Not true?

Thanks again,
Billvv
