Bypass works like champ.
Only when feeding through the cassette, a second sheet is fed right up after the first one.
Looks like the take up feed clutch keeps the feed tire turning??
I thought the clutch solenoid had one of those sticky foam adhesives on that solenoid plate (like the HPIII's registration clutch), but that wasn't the case, the solenoid metal was nice and clean.
I thought that the machine might be reading legal in the cassette (which might explain the extra turn in feeding a second page), but when I print a config page through the bypass, the config reads the cassette is set for letter size.
Anyway, I know there's something I'm missing.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.:)
