Up till now we have been having an outside company service our printers. I am thinking of changing that. We supposedly had a maintenance kit installed in a HP 4100 last November, but we are now being told it needs one. I doubt we have printed more than 30k pages since then. Is there any way of telling if a kit was installed last November? Thanks for any replys.

The 4100 'asks' for a new maintenance kit every 200.000 pages, a competent service person should reset the Maintenance counter after installing the kit even if it done before the 200.000 mark.
There is no way to see if it was indeed installed but an experienced service person can tell if a fuser has done 30k or 200k.

Print a config page and look at the page counts. Do you have a receipt for the work done in November? Maybe its got the page count written on it.
You just might have to bite the bullet and install a new kit, reset the maintenance count and start fresh. Save the config sheets when work is done on your printer they contain a lot of useful info

You need to go to service mode and reset the maintaince interval, if you have installed a new kit for it.

How can a experienced service person tell if a fuser has done 30k or 200k of pages?
